What is Close to 10?

Close to 10 plays like a number-balancing puzzle with blackjack tension. You receive tiles or cards bearing values, and each pick adds to a running total. The goal is to land as close to ten as possible without going over—bust, and the round resets or costs a life.

Objectives

Small values feel safe early, but hoarding only low numbers leaves you short when the target gap is nine or ten. The decision point is always the same: take another tile and risk busting, or stop and accept a score that might lose to a closer finish. Some modes let you discard or swap a tile once per round—save that relief for when the total sits at eight or nine with a large card still in the deck. Watch the distribution of remaining options; if high numbers already appeared, pushing one more draw is less dangerous. Perfect tens earn bonus points, so players who memorize which values remain can end rounds aggressively instead of stopping at eight every time.

Controls

Tap to play the next number from the queue; hold or discard buttons appear when the build includes them.

Target Player

Casual math fans, card-puzzle crossover players, and anyone who likes push-your-luck decisions in under a minute.

Reasons to Try

Running-total math • Bust risk • Optional discard • Quick rounds • Score chasing

Verdict

Easy to teach in one sentence, with enough risk/reward depth that cautious and aggressive strategies both feel viable.
